New Home

So we closed on our house on Friday... and then the chaos began!

Mom, Da and Gram all came down to help us get settled and work on some projects in the house.

Friday we:
*Changed the locks on the doors
*Cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms
*Brought over the kitchen island
*Unpacked some boxes from our cars
*Spent a ton of money at Menards
*Coaxed the laundry structure into the basement

Saturday we:
*Got tons of things at Home Depot
*Installed better light bulbs
*Washed the walls
*Washed the dishes that we packed/unpacked
*Sorted through the kitchen and put some things away
*Worked with cables for TV throughout the house
*Took the dog out multiple times
*Had the washer and dryer delivered
*Realized our backyard has no grass, it's all weeds
*Bought paint for multiple rooms
*Made our first meal in the kitchen
*Got a treat from Starbucks

Sunday we:
*Taped off and painted the bedroom and bathroom
*Created a extended bar to hang clothes from in the basement
*Tapped into our water line to move the fridge
*Brought over a couple chairs to the house to sit on
*Moved a table in the dining room
*Cooked our first meal on the grill
*Got another treat from Starbucks!!!
*Spent more money at Menards

Now tomorrow... Otto and I have to go to work... While Mom, Da and Gram tape off and prepare the living room, dinging room and kitchen for painting tomorrow night. I just hope I can make it through the day tomorrow at work without falling asleep or being too grouchy with the kids... wish me a ton of luck!!!

Teacher Appreciation Week

For Teacher Appreciation Week our Center had events taking place everyday!

Monday - Families brought in flowers for the teachers! I received two different bouquets and a potted Gerber Daisy!

Tuesday - Families brought in baked goods! No kidding, we had at least 10 pans of brownies and at least 5 batches of chocolate chip cookies with rice krispie treats, banana bread and other random treats. And! To top it off our boss brought in a person to do chair massages! It was wonderful, but I was feeling it on Wednesday!

Wednesday - Our center handed out gift certificated to all the staff from one of many various places. Cub Foods, Mobil, Food Fight, Barnes & Noble, Target and Starbucks. Tough, but I think you can guess which one I chose!

Thursday - Families brought in dishes for a potluck lunch for the staff! It was very tasty!!! Our center brought in a comedian/juggler for a show! It was very interesting, but I couldn't believe it lasted over an hour... and I can't believe the kids sat through the whole thing! Amazing!!!

Friday - The administrators are bringing in bagels & cream cheese, both for staff and for Mother's in celebration to Mother's Day!

It has been a very eventful week, but next week will definitely be more eventful! We close on our house next Friday!! I can hardly wait! But I absolutely hate packing... wish me luck.

Reupholstered Chair

My grandmother gave me an old office chair to use at my desk. It was extremely old, and nothing left for cushion on the seat and there was rips in the material.
I took the chair apart... it was quite a feat! I had to tear out tons of staples, and try to figure out how to take the top of the chair off and get it into two pieces...

Here's the mess I ended up with.
Eventually I got it all covered in the new material and put back together!
I think it looks GREAT!

Homemade Surprise

No, this isn't a recipe post for leftover-casserole. I'm volunteering to make you, my lucky friends, a homemade something-or-other. Are you excited yet? If so be sure to be one of the first five people to respond to this post:

I hereby commit to offer the first five individuals to comment on this post a homemade gift of my choosing; however, in order to post a comment, you have to first post this on your own blog and agree to do the same for another five people. You in turn have the opportunity to do likewise to this post and be the recipient of a fun homemade gift from me.
There are of course some restrictions,
because I am not Superwoman.
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. This thing will be completed sometime this year.
4. You have no clue what it will be, leftover-casserole anyone? Just kidding.
5 I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
REMEMBER THE CATCH: YOU MUST RE-POST THIS ON YOUR BLOG

A very memorable morning

It's Thursday, obviously... and today was just one of those days where I was extremely glad it wasn't a Monday.

I have a new co-teacher, and it's taken adjustment. We're working very well together, which helps with what occurred today.

My new co-teacher was at the changing table, while I was finishing up serving and cleaning up after breakfast. I sent a child over to the bathroom with the instructions to pull down their pants, take off their diaper and to sit on the potty. I watched as they walked over, and when I thought they were well on their way I turned my back to finish cleaning up the table. When I turned back I just thought something didn't look right... I called for my co-teachers attention and we both came to the same realization! The kid had stopped in the entrance to the bathroom, braced themselves against the door jam, and were laying a load on the floor. The kid stood there and just pooped!!! We were both taken aback! We just didn't know what to do at that point... should we try to move the child and risk spreading the mess, or just let them finish and deal with it?! I personally just bent over with laughter! There was nothing more I could do! I laughed so hard!!! My co-teacher was just so shocked she didn't know what to do, but she ended up cleaning up the mess, which wasn't bad because someone the child completely missed messing their pants... so it was just cleaning up the floor and disinfecting it. It definitely made for an extremely memorable morning. And every time I've shared my story with someone they've shared in my laughter!

Ice Skating

We had visitors over January 1-4. Jeb came over Thursday afternoon to chill in Madison before she started student teaching and Sean showed up Friday night just in time for the UW Hockey game we were planning on taking them to! It was a blast!

Saturday afternoon we decided to go ice skating because Sean had never been. We looked for indoor and outdoor rinks in the area. We ended up heading to Villas Park where you could skate and even rent skates for the ice.

Jeb was showing off her skills on the ice!!

Sean showed us how well he could lay on the ice! Actually he did really well for being on the ice for the first time!

Otto and I got a chance to try out our ice skates once again! We've decided we wouldn't be against heading to Villas Park again in the near future!!!

New Year's Party

Our friends Craig and Veronika put together a New Year's Eve Party.
Everyone met up at 7pm bringing along whatever they wanted to share for treats for people. I decided I wanted to create a meat, cheese and cracker tray.
Our neighbors Heather and James were there!
And our friends Ryan and Jess were able to drive up from P-Vegas to join us as well!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!
